Can you give advice as to which to get first - either the blending board or the blending hackle?
It depend on the state of the fiber you will use. If you will be using fibers that is processed and clean then the blending board. It’s fun and easy to start out with. But, if you have lots of raw unprocessed fiber then I would recommend purchasing the blending hackle with a comb first. Here’s why. The blending board is great for creating fantastic clean rolags and fiber batts, but you really have to use fiber that’s been processed through either a drum carder or the hackle. If you purchase the blending hackle with a comb first, you can straighten and clean vm from all your fiber and later on buy the blending board and use it with the fiber you processed with the hackle. Also, I would recommend the standard hackle with 3 inch tines with a comb to start out, it’s inexpensive and you can clean AND blend fiber all in one.
